Here are a few things we learned this week:
In math we:
-Introduced measuring
-The boys and girls measured objects with strings, bees, and
seeds.
In reading we:
-Continued with our non-fiction reading workshop unit. This week we focused on understanding the
author’s purpose.
In writing we:
-finished publishing our final How To piece.
-We wrote about what we want to be when we grow up. This is the story we are going to put into
our hardcover books that we will get to take home after they return from the
publishers. Thank you to Jessica
Fleischman and Lindsay McDonald for coming in on Thursday afternoon to help us
with this.
In Fundations we:
-Introduced three letter consonant blends
-Reviewed how to properly write a sentence with an uppercase
letter and ending marks.
We had a big day on Wednesday because we celebrated Dr. Seuss’
birthday! In the morning we read with the entire first grade in the
cafeteria. Then we went to the book fair
and picked out some great books! After
the book fair Miss Yelle’s class (4th grade) came to read us
different stories. At 11:30 Dr.
Beauchaine, the Roderick principal, came to read us Fox in Socks! It was a busy day but we had a lot of fun! On Thursday, we read about Dr. Seuss in our Scholastic
magazine.
Have a great weekend!
Miss Walsh
