January 11th-15th

Here are a few things we learned this week:

In math we:
-Reviewed greater than, less than and equal signs for comparing numbers
-Began counting to 120 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s (instead of just 100)
-Introduced filling in missing numbers on a numberline

In reading we:
-Began our non-fiction reading workshop unit.  We will we reading to learn information from our books

In writing we:
-finished our Narrative writing workshop unit by getting together with Miss Blake’s class to read to other students
-had free writing time, they were able to write about what they would like and it did not have to be about them

In Fundations we:
-Introduced consonant blends and how to tap our words which are longer than three letters
-Introduced r-controlled vowels which we will be reading but not writing (ir, er, ur, or, ar)
-We also introduced these sight words: could, should, would, over, number, her

We learned Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact he made on our lives in our Scholastic News and during Reading Workshop.

Don’t forget to bring in your Read Across Wrentham logs every Friday so your child can receive their prize. 

*Beginning in February we will not have gym on Wednesdays and on Thursdays we will be attending art instead of health.

Here are a few things we learned this week:

In math we:
-Reviewed place value with base ten blocks
-Introduced greater than, less than and equal signs for comparing numbers
-Began counting to 120 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s (instead of just 100)

In reading we:
-Began our non-fiction reading workshop unit.  We will we reading to learn information from our books

In writing we:
-Published our second small moment piece
-finished our Narrative writing workshop unit
-Next we will begin our non-fiction/informative writing unit

In Fundations we:
-Reviewed the –ang, -ing, -ong, and –ung glued sounds and adding the suffix –s to them
-We also introduced these sight words: try, my, by, why, put, two, very, also
-We had a check-in on Friday

We also learned about different animals and how they stay warm in the winter in our Scholastic News.

Read Across Wrentham begins today, Friday, January 8th.  Please make sure to track your child’s minutes, homework minutes are included.
