January 19th-23rd

January 23, 2015

This week in Fundations focused on the uppercase letters I, J, K, L, M, N, O, and P   and tapping out CVC words.

Our sight words for the week were: see, look, can, are, and

At school this week we:

·        Created snowmen out of glue

·        Completed Fundations papers for letter I-P

·        Learned about the life cycle of a caterpillar

·        Worked on the 14 as number of the day

·        Learned about the structure of a sentence

o   They always start with an uppercase letter

o   They always end with punctuation

o   There needs to be spaces in between each word

·        Played a numbers memory game with ten frames

·        Had a visit from Dr. R. to help us continue to decompose numbers

·        Practiced our Old MacDonald vowel song

·        Created surprise birthday cards for Mrs. H. Her birthday is next Tuesday.

Please do not feel the need to finish the homework in one week.  Many letters were sent home so feel free to send them back when they are done.  I am sending home this week’s today so the students have the opportunity to work on them over the weekend since there are so many letters to complete.

Don’t forget to wear Patriots gear, red white and blue, or Wrentham spirit wear for our Channel 5 “Eyeopener” event!

Ask your child what else they learned.  Next week in Fundations we will be focusing on the uppercase letters Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.  Our sight words will be ‘they,’ ‘you,’ ‘of,’ and ‘his’.

Have a fantastic weekend!
