February 9th-12th

February 12, 2016

Here are a few things we learned this week:

In math we:
-Reviewed numbers 100-120
-Played number bingo
-Searched the room for math facts

In reading we:
-Continued with our non-fiction reading workshop unit.  This week we focused on presidents and animals.

In writing we:
-Began writing our How To pieces
-We wrote about what we can do on the 100th day of school that we could not on the first
-Read our How To pieces to the class

In Fundations we:
-Introduced vowel teams (two vowels together that make one sound: ai, ay, ee, ea, ey, oi, oy, oo, ue, ou, aw, au)
-We also introduced these sight words: each, between, see, say, says
-Next week will be a review week

We also learned about idioms and George Washington in our Scholastic News.

This week we also met our new classmate, Oscar!  The boys and girls did a great job welcoming him into our classroom and helping him adjust to our schedule.

On Thursday, we celebrated the 100th day of school! We visited all of the first grade classes to see all of the great projects for the day.

On Friday, we celebrated Valentine’s Day by exchanging Valentine’s, creating BEE mine Bumblebees and watching Charlie Brown’s Valentine.

Read Across Wrentham ended today.  If you have last minute logs they will be accepted on Monday.

Have a great vacation week!
