Here are a few things we learned this week:
In math we:
-Introduced graphing
-The boys and girls surveyed the class to see what some
of their favorites were and then graphed them
In reading we:
-Continued with our non-fiction reading workshop
unit. This week we focused on understanding
the author’s purpose.
In writing we:
-Began to wrap up our How To unit and publish a piece
In Fundations we:
-Reviewed vowel teams (two vowels together that make one
sound: ai, ay, ee, ea, ey, oi, oy, oo, ue, ou, aw, au)
-We had our check-in on Friday
In science, we began our weather unit. The boys and girls learned about fronts and
how they move differently depending on if they are a cold or hot front. It was perfect timing since we got to discuss
the big storm from Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, I was out for the afternoon to attend a
meeting. I got a great review from the
substitute about what a great job the class did. Thursday the class also got a ‘fantastic job’
from Mrs. Lovely!
On Wednesday next week, our class will be attending the
book fair. If you would like to come
please meet our class in the Vogel Auditorium from 10-10:30.
I received a flyer from An Unlikely Story Bookstore in
Plainville that Saturday, Feb. 27th there is a SCBWI’s Leap into Reading event
from 12:30-3:30 in case anyone is interested.
Have a great weekend!
