October 19th-23rd

October 23, 2015

The class earned all of their pom poms this week which allowed them to have a stuffed animal day and earn a quick movie for the end of the day!  Everyone looked their best on picture day!

Here are a few things we learned this week:

In math we:
-Learned a rap to help us with our doubles facts
-Began fact families

In reading we:
-Built a toolbox for our reading strategies, we will be continuing to add to it next week

In writing we:
-Continue to work on our narrative stories.  We focused on small moments.  A few more students were able to share this week. Introduced using a stapler and challenge paper at our writing shelf.
-Wrote about what we are being for Halloween

In Fundations we:
-Had a check-in on Friday.
-We also introduced these sight words: he, she, we, be, me, for, and or.

In science we:
Continued to watch our brassica seeds grow.  We began a science experiment using white carnations and food coloring.
Watched a clip about the life cycle of a plant and then played a game

I am still looking for one more volunteer to come in on Friday, October 30th from 1:15-2:15 to help with a Halloween center.

Have a great weekend,
Miss Walsh
